Rione Sanità and Cimitero delle Fontanelle

The Rione Sanità is undoubtedly one of the most characteristic areas of the city of Napoli. Rich in history, folklore, gastronomy, it hosts a lively popular market (Vergini), noble palaces and baroque churches. The undisputed attraction of the neighbourhood is the Cimitero delle Fontanelle, an ancient city ossuary, location of the popular cult of the souls in Purgatory, or of the anime pezzentelle.
