The most important archaeological museum in the south of Italy, founded by the Bourbons and located in the city centre.
Indoors, you can find a large section dedicated to Roman archaeological excavations, part of the rich Farnese collection; rooms dedicated to Vesuvian archaeology, with mosaics, frescoes and everyday objects from Pompeii and Herculaneum; an Egyptian section; an area of prehistoric art and much more.
